CVID

Beth,

Thanks for your inquiry!

It is hereditary in most respects, the studies show that there is a 50 - 50 chance that is is passed down generation to generation.  Two of the three siblings in my family have been diagnosed.  They do not have a genetic test at this point.

I do think it is a bit unusual to have two siblings being diagnosed.  I am now finding more and more people with this through word of mouth.

There seems to be an ever increasing number of people dealing with conditions that affect the immune system. Coincidentally, I have a cancer that affects my immune system too (blood cells and immunoglobulins). What could be causing this?

    Beth,

Sorry to hear about your condition. I am not a Physician but you are correct in the growing number of immune system involvement in these conditions. One thing I believe induces (not causes) these types of conditions is stress. CVID presents either early childhood or later in life such as 40s to 50s. I was diagnosed during a stressful time and I felt that all the symptoms were all related to stress. CVID patients are more prone to different types of cancers.
